Bars are handcut, weigh approximately 5 oz, measuring 3 x 2 x 1″ and are wrapped in biodegradable paper.
My inspiration for this limited edition bar goes back to my college days where I studied the pigments of the dunhuang caves along the silk road, learned about how it affected the capacity of art. The Silk Road was an ancient network of trade routes that connected the East and West. It was central to cultural interaction between the regions for many centuries and I hope to experience it in person, someday. For this batch, I used pigments and aromas based on locations along the silk road route (mostly overland), also known as the hippie trail frequently traveled by van in the 60s. I’ve crafted an aroma to invoke the imagination: jasmine, allspice, patchouli, holy basil, clove and black pepper. For color, I used kudzu root, dead sea clay, morrocan clay and indigo powder.
This falls under the Everyday/Blue Square Category of Soap.
