Because our friendly postal carriers are off today

Because our friendly postal carriers are off today, I am grateful to also have the morning off so I can go mountain biking. The holiday in question is important to consider as I ride through the wilderness. I've become increasingly interested in the original stewards of the land, native American tribes, and how they choose to care for and navigate these lands, sustainably.

Did you know you can find the names of native tribes who occupied the lands of your parks on some apps like Trail Forks? Or even send a text with your city and state to 1855 nine one seven 5263 so that you learn the tribes who occupied the land where you stand?

Here in Frick park, some parts of the park carry different energy than others and I sense human habitation built up some of that energy over many years, even if it isn't present any longer. It is interesting to think about that residual energy and why a place was chosen and why it isn't occupied anymore. I am profoundly sad and grateful for the Osage and Shawnee tribes' humble coexistance and adaptiveness with nature. And for helping me feel like I belong outside.

But no, it's 100% plant based and the greens are from spirulina and chlorella, laid in thin layers with poppy seed for a bit of exfoliation. I'm pretty proud of the surface texture in my swirl today.
